We were approached by our client fall 2020 to design a Kitchen and Utility room for their forever home.
For this barn conversion, we knew we had to keep within the feel of the home with it’s lovely exposed beams.Layout –Our client had spoken to a few other companies so they already had a base idea for what they wanted and with a few suggestions from our designers, we quickly settled on a final design.
The space for the Kitchen to go in was very large so it involved a lot of units and storage space to ensure the room didn’t look empty as well as overcrowded. We placed a tall bank of units on the left as you walk in since this is tucked out the way and doesn’t impose on the room. The fridge and freezer sat either side of a larder. Opposite we have a corner walk in larder next to the two oven housings with storage above and below. We attached the island to the archway wall to ensure a wide walk space round the other side. The island includes the hob, a set of draws, pull out spice rack, wine rack and wine cooler with a breakfast bar on the other side. The main ‘L’ of the Kitchen contains units and draws for storage, a butler sink central to the window, dishwasher and pull out bin.Our client wanted to go for a solid wooden shaker so our Chorleywood Traditional Range was the perfect choice. And since they were able to hand pick their colour of F&B’s Cornforth White, the perfect style and colour for them. Worktop’s and upstands were a composite called Luna Ice which was the perfect subtle contrast to this light and airy barn.
The Utility room was designed for storage but also for what a utility room should be. We housed the tumble dryer and washing machine in a tall unit, a butler sink was placed in front of the window next to Lola, the cocker spaniels bed unit. A Tall bank of units is placed opposite for additional storage. Our client wanted a slight contrast in this room but for the same colour scheme to run through. We chose F&B’s Purbeck Stone which is a creamier grey to the Kitchen. We matched the door style of the solid wooden shaker in here. Our client is very happy with the finished product and we are absolutely in love with what we have achieved together. The beam’s really add extra character to this beautiful home.
