We commissioned this project in the fall of 2020. The client felt that their old kitchen was looking tired and some doors needed replacing due to wear and tear over the years.
The Customer wanted to replace their kitchen doors and worktops but they kept their current units, which were still in good working order. We did add tall units to fill some dead space, including a full-size fridge, freezer and larder centrally.
Previously, they had solid timber doors, so they wanted to keep in line with this quality for the new doors.
The client chose doors from our Chorleywood Traditional range, which matched perfectly with the farm house style of property. We were looking at a couple of Farrow and Ball colour options.
It was important to keep it as a working kitchen whilst modernising it, so we ensure that no work interfered with the day-to-day use of the kitchen.
The doors, end panels and accessories were painted in Farrow and Ball’s French Gray. We also needed to paint some parts of the existing kitchen that weren’t being replaced. Worktop wise, we changed the laminate worktop to a solid composite worktop in the colour of Luna Ice, which is an ice white worktop with a slight fleck in it.
We decided to go with a two-tone kitchen – colours were F&B French grey on the main kitchen and F&B Bone for the new tall units. However, once the kitchen was fitted, our client decided the contrast didn’t quite work and actually preferred to have the French Grey all the way around.
The window seal that can be seen in the photos needed to be replaced, so we came up with the idea of using the worktop to create a higher upstand behind the sink that went up and over the window sill. Using our extensive design experience, we also created a chopping board and coasters out of the offcuts.
We loved working on this kitchen to create something that our customer has fallen in love with. Green Kitchens are also Georgia’s personal favourite, so this will always be one to remember!
