Our client contacted us in the Summer of 2021 after being referred to us by a Colchester based builder we work closely with. They had been living in the property for 9 years and felt it was time to completely renovate their home, extending to the side and rear. The previous footprint of the property is vastly different to how it is now which suits their family of 5 perfectly. The most exciting part, in our opinion, is the open space for the new Kitchen, that’s where we came in!
After being contacted by our client, we quickly began the design process. We gathered information on the required appliances, style choices and if there were any specific layout requirements for how they saw the space. We quickly settled on a layout which consisted of an ‘L’ shaped Kitchen containing base level and tall units with a large central island. Due to the style of the property being a cottage with low ceilings, we left the walls around the hob and sink free of high level units to ensure the room still felt light and open. The 5 tall units containing Fridge, 2 X Ovens, Microwave Oven, Wine Cooler and Freezer with a pull out larder central were all made to fit the low ceilings but make the most of the space we had by going all the way to the top. Our client wanted to leave the island free from any appliances, ensuring maximum worktop space enabling seating for all members of the family.
Once a design had been settled on, we started to look at details such as the design of the door and colour options. Our Barbican Grained range paired with a handle less rail provided the perfect modern twist on a traditional Kitchen. And the colours of Graphite Grey with a Copper track provided this Kitchen with such sophistication.
This is one of a favourite projects so far and we wish our client all the best in their beautiful newly renovated home!
